Your Own Personal Shopping Centre
Close to Emerald City, Fairview Mall has almost 200 stores with an incredible selection of big-brand retailers, luxury labels, sought-after designers and everything else you could ask for. Shop till you drop – you're only steps from home.
The Don Mills and Sheppard location has a walk score of 80. It's easy to get around on foot, and pretty much everything you need for day-to-day living – groceries, professional services, dining, shopping, green spaces, schools and entertainment – is within easy walking distance. (And at 84, the transit score is pretty stellar, too.)
Parkway Forest Community Centre
With the densification of the neighbourhood that has come with Emerald City's first phases, it was determined that more community resources were needed to keep up with the pace of growth in the area. To alleviate strain on other facilities and offer residents a beautiful place to gather and get fit, they collaborated with the City of Toronto to build a state-of-the-art community centre that serves the needs of the whole neighbourhood.
Designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects, the Centre is an approximately 50,000 square foot facility that boasts a green roof, a rooftop garden and a commercial teaching kitchen. It includes an outdoor pool and pavilion, full-size gymnasium, a running track, arts and crafts room, youth lounge, meeting rooms, weight rooms, aerobics and dance studios and a YMCA-run daycare – all surrounded by beautifully landscaped parkland.
Emerald City is home to Douglas Coupland's The Four Seasons, a colourful, whimsical art installation that graces all the phases of the community, with a new piece commissioned for The Colours at Emerald City.
